After a string of four wins, the Cooper Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 50-37 to Fouke. While losing is never fun, Cooper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 861st in Texas, while Fouke is ranked 98th in Arkansas).
Cooper's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alfred Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Devin Dial was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Cooper's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Fouke, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cooper will take on Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarksville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Fouke will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bismarck at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Bismarck has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
