Dixie County is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will square off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Dixie County will be strutting in after a victory while Williston will be coming in after a loss.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Dixie County and Hamilton County, and Dixie County kept the tradition alive. The Bears were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Trojans on Thursday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Kyan Cooper made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Cooper was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gray Wampler was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matthew DeMille was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Dixie County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while it was Williston who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Belleview who put up more. The Red Devils fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 7-6.
Like Dixie County, Williston also got a great game from a two-way player: Colby Jansen. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Jansen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
Jansen wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daxton Weston, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dixie County's record is now 5-2. As for Williston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dixie County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dixie County came up short against Williston in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, falling 6-3. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
