Even though the Rudder Rangers scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Lake Creek Lions still came out on top. Lake Creek walked away with a 72-61 victory over Rudder. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Rudder is ranked 656th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Aedan Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jett Sutton, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Rudder's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaquise Martin, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Randon Cooks, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Lake Creek is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Rudder, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Creek will take on College Station at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as College Station comes in on three and Lake Creek on five. As for Rudder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
