The Camden County Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Colquitt County Packers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Camden County struggled with threes on Tuesday (Impact Christian Academy had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Camden County took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Impact Christian Academy.
Elyiss Williams put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Marley Riddle, who scored five points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Colquitt County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. The game between Colquitt County and Valdosta wasn't particularly close, with Colquitt County falling 60-44. While losing is never fun, Colquitt County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Valdosta is ranked 49th).
Camden County's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Colquitt County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Camden County strolled past Colquitt County in their previous meeting on Friday by a score of 60-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Camden County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
