Clovis North is 9-1 against Buchanan since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Clovis North's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hanford West as they made off with an 8-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.
Kayleigh Lua was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Riley Grealy, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Clovis North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Buchanan made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty on Tuesday. The Bears blew past the Hawks 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Ainsworth made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sammie Kulak, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double. Harmony McMurry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Buchanan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Clovis North, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4-2.
Clovis North beat Buchanan 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
