Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hi-Plains). They put the hurt on the Lone Star Longhorns with a sharp 59-34 win on Friday. The Patriots pushed the score to 44-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Hi-Plains to victory were Cambria Seaman and Kennedy Henschel. Seaman went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points along with seven steals and six boards, while Henschel went 10 of 16 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Seaman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Maggie Gorton was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Hi-Plains was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jade Kuntz and Aimee Trejo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kuntz posted 14 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, while Trejo had 13 points and seven boards.

Hi-Plains pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Lone Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Hi-Plains has already played their next match, a 49-28 loss against Idalia on the 11th. As for Lone Star, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-23 win against Deer Trail on the 11th.
