Mount Miguel is 9-1 against El Capitan since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mount Miguel Matadors will square off against the El Capitan Vaqueros at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount Miguel has three straight wins, El Capitan has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Mount Miguel's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jerome Radcliff, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points, and Jamell Willey, who went 6 for 15 en route to 14 points and seven assists. That's the most points Radcliff has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hamad Elhamad, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points.
Meanwhile, El Capitan came up short against Steele Canyon on Tuesday and fell 61-54. While the Vaqueros didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 18-14 in the first quarter.
Mount Miguel will need focus on slowing down Jason Wilson, one of several El Capitan players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Trevin Curo was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Mount Miguel's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for El Capitan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Mount Miguel just can't miss this season, having made 73% of their shots per game. It's a different story for El Capitan, though, as they've only made 33% of their field goals this season. Given Mount Miguel's sizable advantage in that area, El Capitan will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mount Miguel came up short against El Capitan when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 75-65. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilson, who went 11 for 16 on his way to 31 points.
