The Richland Northeast Cavaliers's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against Lugoff-Elgin by a score of 50-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Richland Northeast also won the last time the pair played last Wednesday.
Richland Northeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sasha Cebula, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Cebula hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lujain Jallab, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Lugoff-Elgin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jillian Rush, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Kendra Wilson who scored nine points along with four steals. Rush hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for eight straight games. Teryn Hobson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richland Northeast only pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Richland Northeast's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.
Richland Northeast will head out on the road to square off against Ridge View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge View will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Richland Northeast surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they will be playing at home against A.C. Flora at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lugoff-Elgin is coming into the contest with eight straight losses at home, meaning A.C. Flora will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
