After a string of three wins, the Southbridge Pioneers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Uxbridge by a score of 41-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Southbridge of the 60-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Ethan Mccusker was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points for Uxbridge. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mccusker has scored at least a third of Uxbridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Sanford, who scored seven points.
Southbridge's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Uxbridge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southbridge will challenge Quaboag Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Quaboag Regional is coming into the game with three straight losses at home, meaning Southbridge will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Uxbridge, they will head out on the road to take on Oxford at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
