The Community School of Davidson Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Christ the King Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Community School of Davidson sitting on eight straight victories and the Crusaders on five.
In what's become a running theme this season, Community School of Davidson gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 68-36 win over Corvian Community. The score was close at the half, but Community School of Davidson pulled away in the second half with 41 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Community School of Davidson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Baughan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 steals. Baughan is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Christ the King put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Corvian Community 52-23 on the road. Christ the King pushed the score to 37-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals had little chance of recovering from.
Christ the King's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Gorman, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Claire Broda, who scored 13 points.
Community School of Davidson's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Christ the King, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Community School of Davidson have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Christ the King, though, as they've only made 23.1% of their threes this season. Given Community School of Davidson's sizable advantage in that area, the Crusaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Community School of Davidson was able to grind out a solid win over the Crusaders when the teams last played back in January, winning 49-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Community School of Davidson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
