Moapa Valley is 1-9 against Virgin Valley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will head out to face off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Virgin Valley will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Moapa Valley extended their winning streak to five on Thursday. The Pirates blew past Democracy Prep Agassi Campus 20-5.
Moapa Valley got a massive performance out of Gracy Fullman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave Fullman a new career-high. Lyla Shakespear also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Moapa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Democracy Prep Agassi Campus only posted a batting average of .154.
Meanwhile, Virgin Valley made easy work of Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Wednesday and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Julia Leavitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Leavitt was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Ilene Sandoval was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mercades Jordan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Moapa Valley's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.4 runs over those games. As for Virgin Valley, their record is now 18-6.
Moapa Valley couldn't quite finish off Virgin Valley when the teams last played on April 2nd and fell 5-3. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
