Softball Recap: C.B. Aycock Extends Winning Streak to Four

C.B. Aycock waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Smithfield-Selma Spartans 26-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 25-0 on Tuesday.

C.B. Aycock got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Lancaster, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Lancaster a new career-high. Nikayla Weaver was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

C.B. Aycock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .848. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

C.B. Aycock pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Smithfield-Selma, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Looking ahead, C.B. Aycock will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. The Golden Falcons are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Smithfield-Selma, they will square off against East Wake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
