Softball Recap: Terra Nova Wins Going Away Against Half Moon Bay

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mills, Terra Nova was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Half Moon Bay Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-11 back in March.

Bonnie Barrango was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barrango was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Aubrey Bailey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Liah Trade was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Terra Nova was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Half Moon Bay only posted a batting average of .167.

Terra Nova's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Half Moon Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Terra Nova will challenge Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Half Moon Bay, they will face off against El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.92 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
