Nickerson hasn't had much luck against Haven recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will welcome the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Nickerson has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Nickerson fell victim to Hesston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Swathers, falling 13-0.
Meanwhile, Haven waltzed into their game on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Cardinals. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Morgan O'Neal, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Bontrager, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive contests.
Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Haven, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nickerson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Haven struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Nickerson might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Haven in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
