The Dixie Hornets posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They blew past South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind 39-13. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind is ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dixie found their leader in underclassman Jaylia Turner, who scored 12 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerri O'Shields, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Dixie and bumps their season record up to 4-8. As for South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will take on Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornwell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind, they will play host again and welcome Whitmire, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitmire comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
