Mountlake Terrace extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shorecrest Scots. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Amaya Johnson put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.
Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Snook, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Snook's first of the season.
As for Shorecrest, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those four runs were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
On Shorecrest's side, they got a great performance from Claire Maxwell as she struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits.
At the plate, Shorecrest let Ruby Smevik and Natalie Fernandez run wild. Smevik went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Fernandez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jossalyn Acacio was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountlake Terrace will square off against Meadowdale at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Shorecrest, they will face off against Marysville Getchell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
