Columbia Falls is 4-0 against Corvallis since August of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Columbia Falls Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Corvallis Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. Columbia Falls is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Columbia Falls had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They secured a 21-16 W over Billings Central Catholic.
Cody Schweikert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 247 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Columbia Falls also got help from Jace Hill who showed off his sure hands for 118 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Corvallis faced Laurel in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Corvallis walked away with a 24-17 win over Laurel on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Corvallis sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Corvallis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aydan Mayn out in front who threw for 300 yards and a touchdown. Dillen Potter was another key contributor, picking up 153 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Corvallis' defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Drew Lewis and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Columbia Falls to 8-2 and Corvallis to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Columbia Falls against Corvallis in their previous meeting back in October of 2020 as the squad secured a 32-0 win. Does Columbia Falls have another victory up their sleeve, or will Corvallis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
