Baseball Recap: Shorewood Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

Shorewood barely beat Monroe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Stormrays were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Bearcats on Monday. The Stormrays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Shorewood got a massive performance out of Kanata Barber, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Barber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Connolly, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Shorewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

Shorewood has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shorewood is set to square off against their familiar foe Edmonds-Woodway at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Stormrays 3.1, the Warriors 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Monroe will challenge rival Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
