The Lorain Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Brunswick Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lorain has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lorain is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley Forge. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Alayna Warren was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Ja'Ly Cortes was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Brunswick never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Shaker Heights on Thursday. They blew past the Red Raiders 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kiley Williams looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Ava Beas was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Delainey Andolek also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Brunswick hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Brunswick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lorain, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lorain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .470. However, it's not like Brunswick struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
