Two dominant players in Madison Hobbs and Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eno River Bobcats will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Roxboro Community Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Eno River strolled past Research Triangle with points to spare, taking the game 46-32. The victory was just what Eno River needed coming off of a 54-26 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eno River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hobbs has scored at least a third of Eno River's points. Ava Hill was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Roxboro Community put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Henderson Collegiate 74-1 on the road. With that victory, Roxboro Community brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.
Mann and Karrie Obie were among the main playmakers for Roxboro Community as the former scored 22 points along with seven assists and seven steals and the latter scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Obie has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Carver, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Eno River is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Roxboro Community, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eno River have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Roxboro Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Eno River didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Roxboro Community when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-32 win. Will Eno River repeat their success, or does Roxboro Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
