Flagler is a perfect 6-0 against Deer Trail since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Flagler's defense has only allowed 21 points per game this season, so Deer Trail's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Flagler is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Hanover: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Hornets out of the water with a 57-6 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season.
Flagler found their leader in sophomore Rylie Berry, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mia Witt, who posted nine points.
Flagler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2025.
Meanwhile, Deer Trail ended up a good deal behind Lone Star on Saturday and lost 56-40. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Flagler will need to focus on slowing down Megan Donovan, one of several Deer Trail players who made an impact when they last played. She almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Donovan is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Fatuma Hussein was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.
Flagler's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Deer Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Flagler has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Deer Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Flagler got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in January of 2025 against Deer Trail by a conclusive 43-19 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
