The Skyline Raiders''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Mansfield by a score of 27-25. Skyline lost against Mansfield in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 37-0 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Barnes. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 115 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Taylor, who gained 99 total yards and a touchdown.
Marquise Hubbard was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mansfield, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Skyline will head out on the road to face off against Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waxahachie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Skyline in Texas (Waxahachie is ranked 36th, while Skyline is ranked 212th). As for Mansfield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against DeSoto at 7:00 p.m.
