Francis Lewis hasn't had much luck against Beacon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Patriots will look to defend their home field against the Blue Demons at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Francis Lewis came out on top against John Adams on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Spartans. With that win, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Michael Alba looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Derek Young was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Pichardo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Francis Lewis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Beacon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Scholars Academy on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The Blue Demons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
William Schecter looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Franco Calaf and Jagger Bruch did most of the damage at the plate: Calaf went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Bruch got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was Calaf's first of the season. Jacob Blecker was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Francis Lewis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Beacon, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Francis Lewis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Beacon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
