The Countryside Cougars posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Hollins 59-57. Given Countryside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Hollins is ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Countryside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Halloran out in front who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Halloran has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Perlin, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Hollins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Lemons, who scored 17 points. Lemons is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Malachi Miller was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Countryside has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Hollins, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Countryside will head out on the road to challenge Lakewood at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hollins, they will play host again and welcome Osceola, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
