The Riverside Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Central Valley Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Riverside posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 71-33 victory over Heartland Lutheran at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Riverside has posted against Heartland Lutheran since January 16, 2018.
Riverside can attribute much of their success to Jack Molt, who scored 15 points, and Drew Carraher, who scored 15 points. Dane Schalk was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Central Valley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Nebraska Christian by a score of 55-48.
Tae Soto was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaden Wolf, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Riverside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Central Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Riverside hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.8 points per game. It's a different story for Central Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 52.1 points per game. The only thing between Riverside and another offensive beatdown is Central Valley. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Riverside against Central Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 52-20 win. Will Riverside repeat their success, or does Central Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
