Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Olivia Lewis and Julia Amaral Abbade Lead DME Academy to Victory

DME Academy proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Academy of Central Florida National Golden Bulls 3-2. For the -, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Golden Bulls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

DME Academy took Academy of Central Florida National into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11.

DME Academy was led to victory by Julia Amaral Abbade and Olivia Lewis. Amaral Abbade had seven digs and four aces, while Lewis had four digs and four aces. Amaral Abbade has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: DME Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matchups.

DME Academy's win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 15-11. As for Academy of Central Florida National, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Looking ahead, DME Academy will face off against The Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Academy of Central Florida National, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Poinciana Christian Preparatory at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th.
