After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cross Keys, the Howard Hawks were happy to have found some success on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 victory over Tapestry Charter. For Howard, this counts as revenge for the 50-31 defeat Tapestry Charter walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Sam Schulman was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Davis, who scored 11 points.
Tapestry Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Kingston Willingham and Makhi Miller. Willingham scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, while Miller scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Willingham posted two or more blocks. Austin Shelton was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Tapestry Charter were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The win got Howard back to even at 4-4. As for Tapestry Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Howard will square off against Cumberland Academy of Georgia at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cumberland Academy of Georgia is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Tapestry Charter will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th.
