The Seacrest Country Day Stingrays had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Canterbury by a score of 61-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Seacrest Country Day also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2022.
Seacrest Country Day had a senior duo take command as Madison D'Elia scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and six steals and Ty'Nazia Smith scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kailee Hayhurst, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Seacrest Country Day's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Canterbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.
Seacrest Country Day will head out on the road to challenge Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Evangelical Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. Canterbury won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Fort Myers at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully North Fort Myers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday.
