The Sutton Sammies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 54-47 to Blackstone Valley RVT.
Several Sammies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brennan Benedict, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tighe Rogan, who scored nine points.
Sutton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Blackstone Valley RVT, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutton will square off against Nipmuc Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sutton is coming into the game with four straight losses on the road, meaning Nipmuc Regional will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Blackstone Valley RVT, they will take on Whitinsville Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
