The Huntsville Panthers will be playing at home against the Pinson Valley Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntsville will be looking to extend their current 20-game winning streak.
Huntsville put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Sparkman, posting a 85-54 win at home. Given Huntsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Sparkman is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Pinson Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 52-46 to Fairfield.
Pinson Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Camron Frost, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Austin Coner who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Clyde Walters, who scored two points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Huntsville pushed their record up to 23-1 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Pinson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Huntsville came up short against Pinson Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 67-59. Thankfully for Huntsville, Terry Coner Jr. (who scored 18 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
