Florence (6-3) and South Pike (6-3) take on one another this Friday at 7:00 PM on Florence's home turf. South Pike will want to keep Florence's offense in check as it has had no trouble moving up and down the field in its last four games.
Florence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as it fell 33 - 27 to McComb. All the same, giving freshman Oakland Lewis more carries than the previous game paid off since he ran for 144 yards and punched in one touchdown.
As for South Pike, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, it beat Lanier 29 - 22 last week. One major factor in the win was the play of junior true, who ran for 96 yards and also punched in one touchdown. This sound performance was nothing new for Amos, who has been a rock for South Pike in the past six games. Additional support came from senior Kedarrius Shields, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 13 tackles.
The last time they met, Florence really took it to South Pike, winning 44 - 6. Florence was able to move the ball a lot more (585 yards compared to 286 yards), a gap South Pike will be looking to close this time around. Will Florence come out on top again? We'll soon find out.
