Central Lake is 0-3 against St.Ignace since August of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Lake Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the St.Ignace Saints at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Central Lake sitting on five straight wins and St.Ignace on three.
Central Lake put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 36-12 margin over Atlanta.
Central Lake can attribute much of their success to Drayten Evans, who rushed for 223 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and Garrison Barrett, who rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Barrett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Meanwhile, St.Ignace faced Pickford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St.Ignace took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-10 win over Pickford. The result was nothing new for St.Ignace, who have now won five matches by 32 points or more so far this season.
Central Lake's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points per game. As for St.Ignace, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Central Lake took a serious blow against St.Ignace when the teams last played back in October of 2016, falling 56-0. Can Central Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
