Softball Recap: North Montgomery Has No Trouble Against Fountain Central

North Montgomery came out on top against Fountain Central on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Chargin' Chargers blew past the Mustangs 12-1. Considering the Chargin' Chargers have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra McClamroch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Sophie Welshimer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Ella McManomy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

North Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Montgomery moved to 7-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Fountain Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Montgomery will square off against Lebanon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargin' Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Fountain Central, they will face off against Attica at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Ramblers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.77 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
