The Lafayette Commodores's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of West Point by a score of 50-47. If Lafayette hoped to take revenge for the 50-38 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Defeat or not, Lafayette got some senior leadership from Madison Smith and Harmony Jackson. Smith scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Jackson. dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Lafayette now has a losing record at 9-10. As for West Point, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will take on Clarksdale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ripley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
