The Axtell Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their rough 59-39 defeat to Alvarado might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Axtell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while Alvarado is ranked 118th).
Despite the loss, Axtell still got an impressive performance from Coldyn Horn, who scored 15 points. Horn scored a full 38.5% of Axtell's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Tindle, who scored 8 points.
Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Alvarado, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Axtell's road trip will continue as they head out to face Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Non Varsity Tournament Opponent has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Alvarado, they will take on Grandview at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Grandview has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three matches.
