The Richmond Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond will be strutting in after a win while Lafayette Jefferson will be coming in after a loss.
Richmond stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Logansport, posting a 74-45 win on the road. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Logansport is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richmond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cedric Horton, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Carpenter, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Lafayette Jefferson struggled with assists on Friday (Indianapolis Arsenal Technical had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lafayette Jefferson took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indianapolis Arsenal Technical. Lafayette Jefferson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Lafayette Jefferson got a solid performance out of Ah'keem Wilson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Christian Riley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Richmond's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
Richmond beat Lafayette Jefferson 64-52 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richmond since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
