Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity). They blew past the Brooklyn Hurricanes 95-69 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Leading Trinity to victory were Cooper Hughes and Aidan Duncan. Hughes went 9 for 15 en route to 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Duncan went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Those seven assists gave Hughes a new career-high. Brayden Meadows also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
Despite the loss, Brooklyn still got an impressive performance from Devin Hardwick, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Hardwick's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Starr, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points.
Trinity's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Brooklyn, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
Trinity wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-53 loss against Padua Franciscan on the 4th. Brooklyn has also already played their next matchup, a 54-51 win against Bard Early College on the 3rd.
