Banks had won four straight games and Nate Lyda did his part to make it five on Friday. The Braves were the clear victors by a 41-20 margin over the Gervais Cougars for which the team can thank Lyda, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 214 yards and two TDs. His longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards.
Banks' leading receiver Jarrett Martin was Lyda's top target yet again, picking up 83 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one score on the ground. Martin also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Banks' defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Cole Wilson with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.
Banks' record now sits at 5-0. As for Gervais, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
