Basketball Recap: Columbus Christian Beats Traders Point Christian for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Columbus Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They snuck past the Traders Point Christian Knights with a 46-42 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crusaders also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbus Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Belle Blair, who posted eight points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Blair a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Murray, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards.

Columbus Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Traders Point Christian only pulled down 11 offensive boards.

When it comes to explaining why Traders Point Christian lost, don't look at Lina Berry. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 18 on her way to 22 points and five rebounds. Melanie Carrasquedo was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Columbus Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Traders Point Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Columbus Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-32 loss against Rock Creek Academy on the 25th. Traders Point Christian has also already played their next game (against Riverside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
