It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pittsburg Pirates had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Wolves 37-21. The win was just business as usual for Pittsburg, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Jamar Searcy was on fire: he rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Marley Alcantara, who threw for 317 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pittsburg's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jewelous Walls and Joshua Dollarhide-watson who racked up four sacks between them.
Pittsburg's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for San Ramon Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3.
Pittsburg will head out on the road to face off against Folsom at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Folsom is on a five-game streak of home wins, Pittsburg a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. San Ramon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
