Red Mountain has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Skyline Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Red Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Red Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mountain View, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win.
It was another big night for Macy Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Makaia Jenkins, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Skyline suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 50-24 loss to Mesa might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Skyline in their matchups with Mesa: they've now lost nine in a row.
Red Mountain's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Red Mountain against Skyline in their previous matchup last Wednesday as the squad secured a 76-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Mountain since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
