Owyhee is a perfect 3-0 against Boise since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Storm will take on the Brave at 5:00 p.m. Owyhee will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Boise's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Owyhee hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Storm didn't even let Ridgevue on the board on Thursday, marking the Storm's second-straight 12-0 shutout. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.
Grace Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Maddilynn McNulty was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Geiser, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Owyhee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Boise ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Centennial 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Brave have posted since March 26th.
Allie Gore was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Gore was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Hopstad and Lily Binford did most of the damage at the plate: Hopstad went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Binford went 2-for-5 with one home run. Kamryn Newbery was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
Owyhee pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Boise, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-9 record.
Owyhee beat Boise 10-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Brave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
