The Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Northern York Polar Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greencastle-Antrim's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Northern York's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Greencastle-Antrim's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Waynesboro hitters got past them. The Blue Devils lost 14-1 to the Indians on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 25, 2024.
Greencastle-Antrim saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter McCauley, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northern York). They blew past Big Spring 9-0 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Polar Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
The result came thanks to Ambrose Depasqua's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Yost, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryland Yinger, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three runs.
Northern York hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Northern York pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Greencastle-Antrim, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
