The La Plata Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Leonardtown, falling 54-15. La Plata has not had much luck with Leonardtown recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Aniyah Sisco was La Plata's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Leonardtown found their leader in underclassman Eva Weller, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Brooks, who scored nine points along with two steals.
La Plata bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.8 points per game. As for Leonardtown, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Plata will take on Lackey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Lackey is ranked 208th, while La Plata is ranked 217th). As for Leonardtown, they will play host again and welcome Westlake, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
