Brush is a perfect 3-0 against Wray since January of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Beetdiggers will welcome the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Brush lost to Highland on the road by a 75-58 margin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Thatcher Queen, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Konrad Castrup, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 13 points.
Meanwhile, Wray beat Platte Valley 69-60 on Saturday.
Wray's win came from a few key players that Brush will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brody Stults, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points and five steals. He has become a key player for Wray: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 4-14 otherwise. Aaron Tena was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 18 points.
Wray smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.
Wray's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Brush, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Brush has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wray struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 31.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Brush didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wray when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. Do the Beetdiggers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
