Althoff Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Althoff Catholic's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Last Friday, Althoff Catholic really took it to Granite City for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-14 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.
Dierre Hill jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Hill jr is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Kevin Gibson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Althoff Catholic's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jakobi Tow and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Durand/Pecatonica got themselves on the board against Forreston on Friday, but Forreston never followed suit. They managed a 6-0 victory over the Cardinals. The win made it back-to-back wins for Durand/Pecatonica.
Among those leading the charge was Jaylen Noud, who gained 71 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-1.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Althoff Catholic has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 249.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Durand/Pecatonica struggles in that department as they've been averaging 163.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
