The South Delta Bulldogs waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They skirted past West Tallahatchie 65-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win South Delta has posted against the Choctaws since February 6, 2018.
South Delta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamichael Green out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Ahmani Lee was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals.
West Tallahatchie's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roosevelt Phillips, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drexel Miller, who scored 16 points.
South Delta's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for West Tallahatchie, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.
South Delta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Tallahatchie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
