Avon is 10-0 against Letchworth since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Avon Braves will be staying on the road to face off against the Letchworth Indians at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Avon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Avon took a serious blow against Le Roy, falling 55-21. Avon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Despite the loss, Avon saw an underclassman step up: Maria Geary scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Geary scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Letchworth scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Warsaw on the road to the tune of 66-11. That 66-11 margin sets a new team best for Letchworth this season.
Avon bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Letchworth, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Everything went Avon's way against Letchworth when the teams last played back in January as Avon made off with a 38-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
