It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fruita Monument Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Falcon on the road to the tune of 50-12. Considering Fruita Monument has won five contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Fruita Monument's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amari Wilson, who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 100 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Palafox, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Fruita Monument has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Falcon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Fruita Monument will head out on the road to face off against Broomfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Broomfield is on a five-game streak of home wins, Fruita Monument a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Falcon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
