Basketball Recap: St. John Paul II Catholic Triumphs

St. John Paul II Catholic hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost four straight) but thanks in part to Janey Lopez that streak is no more. The St. John Paul II Catholic Lions came out on top against the Highland Prep West HORNETS by a score of 28-15 on Friday thanks in part to Lopez, who posted 18 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Highland Prep West lost, don't look at Makayla Sison. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points. That was a full 73.3% of Highland Prep West's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

St. John Paul II Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Highland Prep West, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

St. John Paul II Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-12 victory against Antelope on the 28th. As for Highland Prep West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-34 defeat against Wickenburg on the 28th.
